Uhhhh, help please? Fatal error?

OK, Hello all my name is Chris. I am new to Coppermine and Linux, I chmod - ed the directories. I got everything working but when I go to upload files to an album, I get this error.

Me being new to all this I dont know what it means nor do i know how to fix it. I have tried uploading many pictures, 1 picture. a 500px x 500px picture, I think I have tried alot of different ideas.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted at /usr/ports/graphics/php5-gd/work/php-5.1.6/ext/gd/libgd/gd.c:175 (tried to allocate 6912 bytes) in /usr/home/webserver/public_html/gallery/include/picmgmt.inc.php on line 262

Can anyone please lend me a hand.

Yes it is solved i spoke tooo sooon, have to change the memory_limit higher than 8MB to function correctly =D
