I'm using the spg 1.2.1 with default and was wondering if there is a way to hide the membership list from folks who aren't registered and from everyone whether registered or not??

To be honest, I thought the memberlist mod was not included in 1.2.1, but is an add-on.
But if you have it, you should be able to turn it off in config.  Look for 'Allow logged in users to view memberlist '.  This will turn it off to everyone, except admin.  If you have the mod, it should not be visible to unlogged anyway.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

I think you are correct and I am in error. Confusing the BB with the Coppermine..sorry. Thanks for keeping me honest :)
