If anyone remembers, I was here around last year, with my very first Coppermine gallery, and I was helped by someone really nice, and I'm hoping s/he could help me again. My old gallery was at FunPic.org, which was an okay host, but recently it's just been such a bitch. So with some help from a friend, I found a better webhost, and have uploaded most of my other stuff. I uploaded all the Coppermine files, but when I tried to install it, it gave me the same error message I got last time. My hostname was wrong, or the password, or the username, whatever.

The person that helped me last time suggested that I tried to find the information through a homepage or something, and I did, and it's worked really well since, but since my host has been really.. ugh, I've moved here, and I'm hoping to redo everything, rather than transfer, which I find to be stupid. ;) BUT, I still have this nasty problem, and I hope someone can still help me! :D

Find the file include/config.inc.php and open it with a text editor like notepad.
Then change the data to reflect the mysql username/ password of your new host. If you're unsure about that, ask them.

I was so sure it would work. :( It didn't. Thanks for your help, though! :D

The error message on your page indicates that you your Coppermine can't connect to the database. Did you actually apply the changes Stramm suggested above to the correct file? You need to apply them to yourCoppermineFolder/include/config.inc.php (not to the sample file). You then need to upload the changed file to the server, overwriting the existing file on the server. Make sure that your FTP app is set up to overwrite existing files. When moving from the old server to the new one, did you actually restore the database dump from your old server on the new one?
If this doesn't help (i.e. you're sure that you have uploaded the changed file config.inc.php and have restored the dump), ask your webhost for support.

I actually edited the file information, deleted the original, and then uploaded the new one. But the information I edited was for the sample file, but I renamed it to not include the .sample, so... could this be the reason it's not working? By the way, thank you both so much for your help. You both have no idea how much this means to me. :)
