Group permissions for categories

Ok , so I HAVE read through the docs, however I think there has got to be a way for a user to post pictures in a admin defined cat.
using 1.4.16
Our group is huge and I am sure that if this were pay software we would contribute, and donate we shall if we get this up and running.....

We have categories like Users Rigs , Roof repair, etc....

We need to be able to do one of two things, first (preffered) to give users ability to post pics under the chosen category, #2 (2nd choice) admins can move the pics over to the category easily...

I know this is to come in 1.5, but out of all the programs I have looked at we like this the best, is there a plugin or some code we can put in?

Please do not down on me, I am just asking and I did RTFM, as I tell all that ask me for linux help...)

Pictures don't go in categories, they go in albums. If you create the albums you want, users can upload into them.

I set up all new sections, perhaps I am doing it wrong, I want to have users be able to put in albums of their own, such as in the category "Members Rigs"  I want not just my own rig in there. I want everyone to be able to make the same for their own rig, and so on with the other sections... please advice on how to do this would be great

You can't do that. If you want users to create their own albums they can only do that in the user galleries section. If you want to pay for this then request someone to backport the feature from 1.5 on the freelancers board.

Depends upon how much we are talking, but yeah, we really want this to work... If I can not get this up I am going to another php based photo gallery...

I like the features and layout of coppermine, and am willing to push it and donations to all my customers as well (I am a consultant.)

Now was someone not saying in the first reply that it is possible to set permissions so that they could put pics in a defined category?  I do not suppose you have a aprox date for 1.5 release?

It is possible for the admin to set permissions so that users can upload pictures to certain albums. But in that case the albums has to be made by the admin himself. Currently there is no way that users can create albums in admin allowed categories.

And yes there is no fix date for 1.5 release.
