It's for a non-profit site, but I am willing to pay something reasonable. I hope it was OK to post this request here. :) Thanks

It's OK, maybe you could post your max. budget as well. The coppermine dev team usually doesn't do paid setup support (nor do the members give unpaid individual support), but I'm rather sure that you could accomplish this on your own. I recommend you read the documentation that comes with coppermine and try to set it up for yourself. Return to this board and ask a specific question if you don't manage to set it up on your own.

If you are web hosted, then your host will have to install GD or Imagemagick, if not already there.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

I installed Coppermine last night - congrats on making a product that even an idiot like me can install. My server is using GD 1.x and the thumbs look terrible - as you've pointed out. I'd be willing to pay someone $50 to install GD2 or Imagemagick on my server. Thanks, Don

If you are hosted, you will have to ask your host to install it.

it's a dedicated at RackShack

you should be able to do so by yourself if you run a dedicated server as an admin. If you feel you're not able, ask RackShack to do it for you, they surely offer paid administration. Will be much easier (and usually cheaper). If you're looking for an experienced server admin, this board is simply the wrong place - there are very few people around with enough knowledge. Take a look at the usual geek spots on the web (e.g. a board dedicated to server setup and maintenance), not a board dedicated to a web app. Sorry...
