Hi there,

I'm a complete newbie to Coppermine and have run intro trouble quite quickly. I very quickly determined I wanted a custom theme and found one online, which I downloaded. The contents of the folder (after I unzipped it) look like this: http://s29.postimg.org/qoykvkihz/Screen_Shot_2015_09_05_at_9_50_32_pm.png

I found the relevant documentation page but was stumped as soon as I reached "your coppermine-driven gallery resides in http://your_site.tld/your_coppermine_folder/" This is the site I'm using (http://buckinghamnicksgallery.info/) and I haven't a clue what the latter part of that address means. I decided to move on, anyway. It said to "upload this folder (using your FTP app) to your webserver into the folder that corresponds to http://your_site.tld/your_coppermine_folder/themes/". I didn't have a FTP app so I quickly did that, downloading FileZilla. I eventually figured out how to use it (I think and copied the unzipped folder containing the theme into THIS folder: http://s29.postimg.org/5qx0b8813/Screen_Shot_2015_09_05_at_9_55_00_pm.png And so it looked like this: http://s29.postimg.org/sr3nnk5uv/Screen_Shot_2015_09_05_at_9_55_51_pm.png

It told me to test the theme by adding the parameter theme=x to the address bar in my browser, but as I hadn't understood that 'your_coppermine_folder' in the first place, I wasn't sure how to do that. I attempted to use /public_html as that was the directory on FileZilla but I got this message: http://s13.postimg.org/4wn8gi1vr/Screen_Shot_2015_09_05_at_9_58_21_pm.png

I tried to move forward, nevertheless, and went to the gallery configuration settings on my site. As you can see, the name of theme does show up: http://s23.postimg.org/5ixvshe3v/Screen_Shot_2015_09_05_at_9_59_36_pm.png However, I clicked 'save new configuration' and it didn't change the theme from what it was, although it stated it was using the new theme. I attempted to use one of the existing themes and they were fine and changed immediately.

I know this all is VERY basic and I shouldn't have to ask here, but I'm really very inept at technology and computers. I've Googled for the past few hours and fiddled online, trying to sort it out but failed miserably. I'm fairly desperate to create a gallery but would very much prefer to install this custom theme and then edit it to my specifications regarding a new colour scheme. Help is MUCH appreciated, especially if it's written in such a way an idiot like myself can understand. Thanks.

Nicole,
pictures are welcome when describing a problem, but please use the forum tools to 'attach' the pics... In that way we know they will remain for others to see in future while your links may go away..

As allvip said, this doesn't appear to be a Coppermine theme.. Look at the contents of the 'curve' theme folder to see the difference.
Many themes can be found in our 'demo' (button at top of this page - http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg15x/ or in this forum http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/board,95.0.html

Coppermine can be installed in web root (as you did) or in any subdomain or folder...
In your case, the correct url is http://buckinghamnicksgallery.info/.

as allvip indicated: http://buckinghamnicksgallery.info/index.php?theme=VideoTheme8

Since it doesn't appear to be a valid theme, it isn't able to be used.. If it had switched, you would be unable to view your gallery.

Hope this helps.  Welcome to the forum and Coppermine.
