Hello everyone...

I just went through a successful process of bridiging coppermind gallery 1.3.1 with I.P.B Version 2 PF2.

And have came across another problem. This problem has nothing to do with the bridge problem.

I have only one user at my gallery and after the bridging process, I lost gallery user's login name (since i am using IPB's member's database of course.)

How ever the funny thing or rather an new problem is that gallery user's albums and pictures inside his personal albums are still there and are NOT lost but user's LOGIN name is gone. ...

His User name has somehow renamed by coppermine itself and . it did work out ok with previously uploaded pics..

Now what you see is....

User gallery >Mr. x's album > friends album

wherebefore it was: Users gallery > Bush W. Bush > Friends album

Can any one tell me how to restore users name after the bridging has been done or is it simply a bug in the coppermine files. ???
Best Regards,

omniscientdeveloper

This is expected behavior, if you bridge a preexisting install of Coppermine. (you'll seem to lose user information.)
What you'll need to do is insert the users from the coppermine table into the new IPB users table, using phpMyAdmin. You'll also have to make sure that the userids match (this is very important).

I recently broke my gallery into two seperate galleries using this process. It's not that hard, if you know what you're doing.

o' boy... you are scaring me..  :o

Is there any helping tutorial available on this topic for new to coppermine gallery people like me? ???

You mean I have to insert the same coppermine user ID in IPB's tables to restore them, Am I understanding you right?

Casper

As you only have one other user, this should be easy.  Using your database tool, open the coppermine users table, and note down the user ID of all users.  Now go to the bb users table, and make sure the user id's here match the ones in the coppermine table.  If you don't do that, your user galleries and pics will have the wrong owners.

This is not necessary if you do the bridge before you have any members and personal albums in the coppermine database.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

Thanks for the tip...

I just checked. I don' thave that gallery user name in the forum database.. Do I need to 'add" it manually... and also should I just register him as a new user or something??

please assist.

Casper

register him, and then make sure his user number matches his coppermine id number.

Thanks casper. it worked.

However, how can assign this user multiple group access permissions... Like I want him to be able to see "one" album but not the "other" album.

This was possible in standalone but I seem to have hard time get around this glitch after bridging.  :\'(

Yes, It allows forum permissions such as "read", 'post', reply and upload...So I don't know how to use 'those permission' for gallery albums... since gallery albums are not listed in the forums Admin CP... only users...

So I am not sure how to get around that problem. you know what I mean?  :(

That's not what Casper asked. His question was: does IPB allow a user to be in more than one user group?

Sorry, I'm not sure we are meaning the same things.

Can you create a new group in IPB, and can user 'Joe Bloggs' be a member of this new group AND other groups at the same time.

Coppermine uses the IPB groups, but you still have control over what each group can do in coppermine, and you can still restrict album visibility to certain groups only.

You need to click on 'groups' in coppermine, once you have integrated, to make sure the permissions are what you want.

OH, I am sorry... i misunderstood.

Well... to be honest, I don't think so but it has this new primary and secondry groups permission feature available for the members. But thats all..  only two groups... how about if you want to give permissions for more than 1 albums.

Like I have this member he was allowed to see only 1 album... other was allowed to see 2 and then other group who was allowed to see 3 out of 5 albums... so on and so forth....

Thanks caper, the friendly ghost.  :)

you don't get permission options in "groups" link under coppermine after integeration. It's only available under "USERS" and that you can't access in gallery after integeation... and ALSO I don't think you can allow more than 1 group to your forum members either ...   :-X

Casper

You should still have the 'groups' link in the coppermine admin meny, and it should still go to coppermine groups permissions page.

If you don't have this, there is something wrong, or are you using a bridge file from another source?

Oh my apology if I did not make myself clear before. Actually I am not worried about groups permission.

It's the users I am talking about. I want to be able to allow members to be in multiple groups and how do I do that?

Thanks for the kind help. :0

Casper

When you're bridged, that is relient on the bb groups settings.  If your bb does not support multiple group membership, there's nothing you can do, afaik.

Many boards do allow multiple group membership, and so does coppermine when used as standalone.  If IPB does not, perhaps you might think about changing to one that does, like SMF.

Did you do what I said on this post, http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=8526.msg38359#msg38359
Make sure they match.  If you changed his ID in the coppermine tables, you will also have to change the albums properties to match.

Yes, I did register him on the forum. In coppermine tables, his user id was 3 so i went in IPB database and modified his ID... By doing this, his personal albums shows his name now instead of previous Mr. X thingy... but still he does not see "peroerties - delete files" option on his personal album.

and also how can he grant permission for his one album to multiple groups??
