This is just a cookie issue.  It takes you back to the last page you visited in that cat.  I went to page 3 of your 'communities' cat, the back to your index page.  When I clicked on communities again, it took me to page 3.  I then went to page 1, then back to index.  Then when I went to the cat, it was to page 1.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here
