THE GD2 PERMANENT WATERMARK MOD NEEDS TO BE TURNED OFF REGARDING FINAL PICTURES
(I posted an inquiry to get around this at the Permanent Watermark for GD2 thread, look for #message 56).

PROBLEM WAS
Pic files seem to be uploading all nice. However when trying to upload a .mov file I encounter the infamous "The previous file could not be placed". The file gets uploaded and the correct thumbnail shows. I have not set any width/height settings at the bottom of the info window.

CM 1.3.2 in use with the G2 permanent watermark mod
CHMOD: 777 (inc subfolders in albums)
MAX UPLOAD FILESIZE: 5 mb
SQL DB: seems ok = mov defined as mov, video/quicktime, movie

SYSTEM
Linux,
Apache 1.3.31,
Php 4.3.8,
MySql 4.0.20-standard
GD 2

Thank you for any ideas and feedback,

I have the same problem :( All set to "777", enough file and time sizes...
video formats don´t work, pictures are no problem. the size of the testvideos is smaller than some pictures.

in config > video format = "ALL"
also batch is not running, "PB" displayed without any specific error.

Any ideas?

Thanks
André

sometimes a completly other thread spent some ideas... :o

I´ve found my problem, I installed the watermark hack for GD2... After turning off the watermarking all work fine :)

Thanks Andre! Made my day  :)

mods come as user contributions, without any warranty. If you read thoroughly, you'll find out that the dev team doesn't think that on-the-fly watermarking mods should be applied at all, because they all put an enourmous load on the server (this is by design). You should instead apply watermarks on your pics before actually uploading them, this is much faster, efficient and less resources-consuming. If you have something to say about a particular mod, don't start a separate thread, but reply to the mods thread.

Thanks for the info, Gaugau. Point made and understood... i think ;D shouldn´t your comment read:  If you read thoroughly, you'll find out that the dev team thinks that on-the-fly watermarking mods shouldn´t be applied at all, because they all put an enourmous load on the server (this is by design).

Please do not critise other users use of English.  The majority of users of these forums do not use English as their first language, including Gaugau.
What Gaugau posted was perfectly understandable to me, a native English speaker.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

Ciao Joachim,

thanks for your comment :)
This mod is easy in handling and "neccesary" for our gallery (not the permanent mode, but the watermarking).
The load is not important because nobody can upload in the gallery, the load comes with the release (OK of the admins), so we can decide how much photos go online in a time.
no problem at all :)

Do you think a layer-method is better? before uploading don´t work for us because we run a community-gallery (yes, with watermarks of the community).

Thanks
André

My sincerest apologies if that looked overly critical. Casper, you as a native english speaker probably did see the controversy as unintended and grabbed the right meaning... I did not (native finnish speaker you see)... and spending a LOT of time at these boards searching for useful code and tutorials, I find use of exact expressions extremely valuable and time saving (literally days). My posting was not meant as a critical "flame" but only a correction - with a smile :) But again... I know written words look hard on the screen. I hope apologies are accepted.

Thanks for a great script!

Accepted, and understood how incorrect grammer could cause problems for users like yourself.  ;)
I think you will find these errors more likely to come from people like myself, who use English as their first language, and are therefore more likely to use colloquial English rather than the grammatically correct version taught in schools and colleges around the world.
