I think you're going to have problems (when it comes to certain words) if you look in swedish.php for which words to use - it was when I was looking in swedish.php and saw 'Focal length' translated to 'Fokallängd' and not 'Brännvidd' I decided I could improve the language file. And I'm of course speaking about a minority of words I saw which could be better translated. Like John said, a lot of work has been put into the language file, and that should of course be used and appreciated!

About dividing the work - it depends on how picky you are? :) Because I'm like the language police.. I feel bad when I see words misspelled, badly translated or "sär skrivna". And in the end maybe it'll be more work making up a plan for dividing the work, check with each other etc, than it'll be for one of us to just do it. But it could be good also.. what do you think?

John - thanks for the info!

Beez

I'm kinda picky me to :-) I think, as you said, that it might be more work trying to split the work... But we can share our translations later.

What I meant with the swedish.php for 1.3 was that I would look at certain words and use the once I find useful. I'll be using the english.php for 1.4 and change that. I don't think I'll try to merge them. A little to much "bad" translations...

ecto: I'm totally with you - Stoppa Särskrivning!
Focus dammit, I'm trying to focus!

Hi all,

i made myself a translation to spanish, base on the english file from the CVS and the translation made by Daniel Villoldo tha comes with the 1.4.2 version.
My mistake was to not notice that the threat was more than one page long (6 total) and i don't see the reply made by Daniel Villoldo. So I post my file here maybe it can help you.
I tested it with my instalation and it's working, but i used a more formal way to referer to the user and not the informal way it was, but..... i don't modify the old ones and i don't know if i can finish cause i see a lot of work in my way now.
I do the translation basically cause a needed, and i hope it can help you.

Any question feel free to contact me at jescribens at phantasia dot com dot pe

Thanks

Joachim Müller

thanks for the contrib - added to stable branch of cvs.

hfohrman

Hi. I saw you was discussing swedish.php . I have been doing most of it. And I used the old as a templete.

What I have not done is tah dispalyimage.php part as it have som many bad translations in the 1.3 version.
Also I am not done with versioncheck.php and briding.php.

So maybe we can put our thins togeter.

Heh, suddenly we have an armada of swedish translators :D Odd thing we all started more or less at the same time, and that noone else begun earlier as there's been almost half a year since this thread was started. Well well, the more the merrier right?

Since I've been busy doing Exif mods, I know hfohrman has done more than I, and I guess the same applies for Beez also. So maybe it's best you guys do the main translation, and then I can double-check your work. That way we'll combine three minds, and we'll have the best swedish translation for Coppermine so far! :)

Let's continue this discussion privately.

hey, I don't know if there is any, but I did a part of polish translation for 1.4.x so if anybody need it, just download..

not whole file is translated but almost (most important) half of it, I'm working on the second half Smiley
the file is based on the english.php file so the phrases which are not translated are in english.

I recommended to atach the file to 1.4.2 package, cause the one atached isn't working well (it nailed me down to make the translation), I think, that all Poles will be grateful if you do it GauGau

Joachim Müller

thanks for your contribution. However, your version contains several errors. When you use it from your download, there's a parse error in line 1502. Additionally, there are html headers and footers in the file that are not meant to be there. However, I fixed those things and converted the file to utf-8 - it is in the stable branch of the cvs.

Hello,

you wrote in your translation list Hungarian (Petardo). But I haven't find any message posted by Petardo replaing to [Help wanted]: Translations for CPG1.4.x . I wonder about the Hungarian translation. Is there someone who makeing it? If I see it well the last package contains the earlier (version 1.3.x) Hungarian language file.
I'am Hungarian, using the new 1.4.2 version. May be I can help to do the translation.

Gabor

Joachim Müller

So far, no hungarian translation has been contributed for cpg1.4.x, although petardo has agreed to do it. Maybe he is too busy. I suggest you contact him, maybe you can share the work.

gaborsoha

I sent a mail to Petardo but I get the following answer:
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at freemail.hu.
<petardo@freemail.hu>:
195.228.245.65 does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 550 sorry, no mailbox here by that name (#5.3.0)
Giving up on 195.228.245.65.

Do you know Petardo's other e-mail adress?

Thanks

Joachim Müller

sorry, I don't have another address. If he can't be contacted, please go ahead and start your translation.

CapriSkye

hi GauGau, will you consider changing chinese_big5.php and chinese_gb.php to chinese_trad.php and chinese_simp.php?
i think people are starting to get confused, 1.4x uses utf-8 and the files still say big5 and gb.
thanks

Joachim Müller

for cpg1.4.x: no, as this would require code changes that are new features imo.
for cpg1.5.x: yes.

CapriSkye

yeah i was talking about future release.
please do change the file name to chinese_trad.php and chinese_simp.php
i will change the file name when the language is ready to be updated.

Swedish translation done!

Sorry it took so long. I and Beez have worked really hard with this one, making it a really good translation without grammatical errors (or other errors hopefully, but it might be hard catching 'em all when there's 2100+ lines to translate), making it a stable ground for future translations, where translators won't have to review everything in the previous translation to verify that it is correct.

I also made a big deal about translating the Exif tags correctly, reading up on the Exif specifications and asking experienced photographers at fotosidan.se. Swedes might want to check out that thread:
http://www.fotosidan.se/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51106 (thanks!)
After checking around a LOT I now believe that this is the best and most comprehensive swedish Exif translation so far (no, it's not hubris).

I also made comments on almost every Exif tag (and sorted them more logically), so that other translators can look at the comments to know what thery're actually trying to translate. During this translation I've seen some horrible swedish Exif translations, which were simply wrong words used because people didn't know what they were translating. My suggestions is that the devs also put these comments in the other language files, or compile a file with that info and point translators to it.

I put both a utf-8 and a iso-8859-1 file in the attached zip, as I know some people still prefer iso-8859-1.

Thanks to hfohrman for additional testing.

Oh, and by the way.. MERRY CHRISTMAS! :D

<edit 25/12>
* Changed "Flash Pix-version" to "Flashpix-version", as Flashpix is a name and I3A themselves call it "Flashpix" (lowercase p, no space).
* Fixed a couple of typos (lines 306, 307 and 665)
</edit>
<edit 26/12>
* Added a couple of Exif comments on lines 979 and 980
</edit>

I finished Russian translation.
I am making final test, checks and etc.
Have some problems with transltaion of Exif page.

But...
This version has problems with:
http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#known_issues
* Wrong charset in emails sent from coppermine

And this Issue is very serious from my point of view.

Can you share beta/full version of russian translation?

I will try to use latest CVS snapshot instead of 1.4.2, if version 1.4.2 has bugs with russian language file.
